Interesting news coming out of the UK today. J.K. Rowling, she of Harry Potter fame, has announced she has written another book. But this one isn’t for kids. Instead, it’s a full-on novel for adults and, apparently, markedly different than the way she wrote the Harry Potter series. Rowling has also moved publishing companies from Bloomsbury to Little, Brown, who will be publishing her new adult novel in the UK sometime late in the year or early 2013. (There’s no fixed date yet, it seems).
There’s no word either as to the subject matter of J.K. Rowling’s adult book or, for that matter, the genre. Harry Potter has sold over 450 million books for her so far. So it will be interesting to see how well she does with the new one. Although of course I’ll be one of the first in line, as she’s one of my all-time favorite writers. Kids or adults, she’s still a phenomenal writer.
J.K. Rowling too is being secretive about the new book. Her website, which is undergoing a renovation, simply says “J.K. Rowling is to publish a new novel for adults – Further details will be announced later in the year“, and that, folks, is all you’re going to get there.
