Lady Gaga responds to Ed Sheeran leaving Twitter with a message about being kind

Ed Sheeran announced he was leaving Twitter this week after, among other recent abuses, having a hoard of Lady Gaga fans attack him after he made a comment about famous singers and her fans decided he meant her. (He didn’t).

An hour ago, Lady Gaga herself responded to Ed Sheeran leaving Twitter by posting a photograph of the two of them on Instagram with the caption:

What an incredible talented artist I LOVE ED @edsheeran deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity.”

And while that comment should have been sooner in coming, as her ‘little monsters’ have been abusing Sheeran for weeks, at least it is better late than never and, yes, she is absolutely right.

Because, let’s face it, half the people who make mean, nasty, abusive comments on social media would never have the courage to say them to the person’s face. So why on earth do they feel it’s acceptable on someone’s social media account?

As Gaga says “Work harder to be kinder to everybody”.

After all, do any of us really want to be put into the same category as one of the world’s biggest bullies and abusers — Trump?
