Listen to Carly Simon’s ‘Let the River Run’ from Castle Rock, Season 2, Episode 1, “Let The River Run”

The new season of the psychological horror series Castle Rock kicked off on Hulu yesterday with the usual mix of superb storytelling and soundtrack music perfectly illustrating the scenes.

Case in point, Carly Simon’s ‘Let The River Run‘, which not only played at the beginning and end of the first episode — Castle Rock, Season 2, Episode 1 — it was also the title of the episode.

Carly Simon’s ‘Let The River Run’ was first heard way back in 1988 on the soundtrack of the Melanie Griffith movie Working Girl. So successful was the song at the time, it was nominated for and won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

It also won a Grammy and a Golden Globe award.

Interestingly, however, the track was not a huge commercial success for Simon. Even though nowadays it is one of her most recognized songs.

It only charted in Australia, the U.S. and the UK, with its highest position being the #11 spot on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

Simon eventually re-recorded the song for her 2009 25th studio album Never Been Gone.

Listen to Carly Simon’s ‘Let The River Run‘ from Castle Rock in the song’s official music video below. The video includes scenes from Working Girl.

The second season of Castle Rock stars Lizzy Caplan, Paul Sparks, Barkhad Abdi, Yusra Warsama, Elsie Fisher, Matthew Alan and Tim Robbins.

You can watch it on Hulu.
