Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life‘ is officially available on Netflix and what that means for a music addict like me, and a huge fan of the iconic show, is a whole list of new songs I will be listening to for a while, as ‘Gilmore Girls‘ always had the best music. And, no, ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life‘ is no exception.

Of course, it wouldn’t be ‘Gilmore Girls‘ though if I didn’t start off first by listening to the theme music from the series. Carole King’s classic song ‘Where You Lead‘. A song that was originally recorded by King in the 1970s for her hit album Tapestry.

And what is great about this song is it was a song King was initially reticent about singing, as she didn’t want to come off as a woman who would drop everything for a man (she didn’t, the song is incredibly empowering if you really listen to the lyrics).

But now, it is a cool song to describe the close relationship between a mother and a daughter who love each other very much.

Listen to Carole King’s ‘Where You Lead‘ from ‘Gilmore Girls‘ in the video below. A video that was put together by a fan of the original incarnation of  the show.

And I do recommend you buy Carole King’s album Tapestry if you like the song. It is one of the first albums I ever owned and, 45 years after it was released, it is still one of the best ever made.

It is also one of the best selling albums of all time, with more than 25 million copies currently sold to date.
