Listen to Dana Williams’ ‘Fooling Myself’ from the Netflix movie ‘Dude’, it is so pretty

Listen to Dana Williams’ ‘Fooling Myself‘ from Dude

The incredibly pretty Dana Williams’ song ‘Fooling Myself‘ was featured on the soundtrack of the newly released Netflix comedy film Dude this month. It was the song that was playing at the beginning of the senior prom.

Dude stars Lucy Hale, Kathryn Prescot, Alexandra Shipp and Awkwafina, and follows four high school teenagers during the last two weeks of their high school life.

The girls smoke weed, party as much as they can, try to figure out what they want to do with their lives, and if they are still going to be as close as they are now once they graduate and move onto university. Or if they are even going to go to university at all.

Dana Williams ‘Fooling Myself’ is not new to the movie/TV show world with this Dude feature either, as it was also featured on the MTV series Catfish last year. The song is originally from Williams’ six-track sophomore EP Let’s Fall, which was released in December, 2015.

And if you are trying to figure out which genre ‘Fooling Myself‘ falls into, Williams interestingly classifies it as “ethereal soul folk”, which I must say is a very pretty term and fits this gorgeous song perfectly.

You will also not have to think too hard to figure out one of Williams’ major influences is the iconic Ella Fitzgerald. You can hear that in every note in her voice.

Listen to ‘Fooling Myself‘ and watch the official music video for the song below,/ A video that is just as ethereal in its own right.
