Listen to Josh Ritter’s ‘Homecoming‘ from ‘Billions‘ — the perfect song for the season’s end

American singer songwriter Josh Ritter’s ‘Homecoming‘ was featured on Billions‘ this week — Season 2, Episode 12, “Ball In Hand“.

It was played at the end of the episode to close out season 2 of the series, as Axe makes bail and leaves prison to go home to a broken marriage, and to children who now know the ugly truth about their father.

Ritter’s ‘Homecoming’ is from his eighth studio album Sermon on the Rocks, which was released in 2015.

And, I have to confess, I had not listened to much of Josh Ritter’s music before I heard this track on ‘Billions‘.

Even though I knew he had been discovered by the amazing Irish singer Glen Hansard, so presumed he must be something pretty special.

And, yes, now I can say, Josh Ritter is special.

Because I bought Sermon on the Rocks as soon as I heard ‘Homecoming‘, and I have been playing it on repeat ever since, as it is one of those albums — because of both the music and the gorgeous lyrics — that really touches you where it matters.

No wonder Paste magazine named Ritter one of the “100 Greatest Living Songwriters“.
