House duo Sofi Tukker’s ‘Best Friend‘ (feat. NERVO, The Knocks & Alisa Ueno — yep, a major collaboration) was featured on the pilot episode of the new Freeform comedy Alone Together this week (January 10th, 2018).
The song was heard in the background as Esther and Benji talk to the cool crowd at Benji’s brother’s party.
‘Best Friend‘ is a track that has been a massive hit for Sofi Tukker, aka Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, since its release in September, 2017.
The track made it to the number 23 spot on the Alternative Songs chart, and number 10 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Described by one critic as ‘jungle-pop, it also hit the number 1 spot on both the Billboard & Clio’s Top TV Commercials chart last month, after it showed up as the music for the iPhone X commercial rollout.
This, though, is just a drop in the bucket of success for Sofi Tukker. The duo was also nominated for a 2017 Grammy for ‘Drinkee‘, the first song they ever released.
As for recorded music, the duo only has one six-track EP out at the moment — Soft Animals, but say they are also in the studio every day working on a slew of new songs. Songs that may become an album, an EP or something else entirely. They’re not quite sure yet.
Needless to say, though, whatever Sofi Tukker ends up doing with them, chances are it will be something just as unusual and as wild as their current critically-loved releases.
