Listen to The Sundays ‘Wild Horses’ from ‘Friends From College’ — dark and sad

Listen to The Sundays ‘Wild Horses‘ from the Netflix series ‘Friends From College

The Sundays ‘Wild Horses‘ was featured on the first episode of the new Netflix series Friends From College this week — Season 1, Episode 1, Welcome To New York.  It was heard at the end of the show.

Wild Horses‘ is from The Sundays second studio album, Blind, and is an interesting track as it’s one of the songs The Sundays are most known for yet it only appeared on the U.S. album release.

It is also a cover version of The Rolling Stones song, of course, and was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and originally released in 1971 on the Stones album Sticky Fingers.

As for its subject matter?

Keith Richards once said the song was about being on the road and a thousand miles away from where you really wanted to be — home with the person that you love the most.

The Sundays themselves have not released anything else since their third album Static and Silence in 1997, although they did say new music was coming several years ago. A shame, as their music was always quite lovely.

The video is the original that was released at the same time as the song.

Personally, I like The Sundays’ cover of the song better than the Stones version, simply because the way The Sundays have arranged the music and how lead singer Harriet Wheeler approaches it makes it sadder and more dark sounding.
