My Little Pony: The Movie trailer released, bronies must be ecstatic

The new trailer for My Little Pony: The Movie has just been released and, from the first second I started to watch it, I just kept thinking “Bronies must be ecstatic”.

Because My Little Pony: The Movie is looking like it’s going to be everything bronies love about the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Hasbro TV series, right down to a similar be kind to everyone and overcome challenges theme, to the same actors voicing the ponies.

It’s just bigger, longer and, once you get used to those new animations, maybe even a little bit better?

According to Wikipedia, the My Little Pony: The Movie plot has Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity leaving Ponyville and striking out across Equestria to save their town.

That’s about all we know about the plot as of now, except that the threat comes in the person of The Storm King (played by Liev Schrieber), a satyr-like villain who is really really bad.

What sounds completely epic about My Little Pony: The Movie, however, is what Hasbro President Stephan Davis said about the movie.

Because he envisages is it as a way for Hasbro to expound on the Equestria story and, instead of just making the movie a longer-than-normal My Little Pony episode, he says it will be a lot bigger than just an extended episode, with the studio doing things in the movie they have not been able to do during a short TV episode. Awesome.

My Little Pony: The Movie stars the usual cast, along with a huge number of massive movie stars, some of whom were ecstatic to be asked to voice characters as they felt it was going to be a movie they can finally take their kids to.

These actors include Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba, Michael Peña, Sia and Zoe Saldana. Nicole Oliver is also returning as Princess Celestia, and Sia has written an original song for the film.

My Little Pony: The Movie is due for release on October 6th, 2017 in the U.S.  It’s being distributed by Lionsgate.

There are also going to be a huge number of Hasbro toys, collectible cards, t-shirts, books, comic books and more being released to promote the movie starting on August 1st. Bronies start saving your money now!

But meanwhile, watch the new full trailer for My Little Pony: The Movie which, from a cursory look at comments on its YouTube page, seems to have most bronies counting the days until October.

Hell. if I was a brony, I would be too, as this movie looks cool.

Finally, if you have yet to watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, (and it is a very good series, whether you have kids or not) or have seen it but do not own it on DVD, you can pick it up on Amazon starting with Season 1.
