New Game! opening song ‘Sakura Skip’ by Fourfolium is upbeat and fun — Best Anime Songs

The New Game! opening song ‘Sakura Skip‘ by Fourfolium is our pick for today’s addition to our Best Anime Songs list.

After all the show is just so upbeat and fun, it is really hard to ignore.

The first season of the slice of life, comedy anime New Game! kicked off in July, 2016.

It was written by Fumihiko Shimo (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) and directed by Yoshiyuki Fujiwara (Plastic Memories).

The four young women who sang the opening theme for the first season of New Game! –Yūki Takada, Megumi Yamaguchi, Ayumi Takeo, and Megumi Toda — aka Fourfolium, also voiced four of the main roles in the anime series.

The song was written by KOCHO.

As for the anime, New Game! is funny and cool, with some of the quirkiest, most unforgettable characters in moe anime.

There’s Aoba Suzukaze who just started working at the video game company Eagle Jump instead of going to university, because they created her favorite game.

Kō Yagami, who spends her nights sleeping at the office in her underwear, and often freaks out Aoba when she arrives in the morning to be faced with Kō’s underwear-clad rear end.

Hifumi Takimoto, who is so shy she hardly speaks to anyone. Hajime Shinoda, who is loud and fun, and loves to buy toys and play with props, and Yun Iijima, who dresses as a goth and loves to design monsters.

They are just some of the beautifully written characters that populate the New Game! world.

Listen to the New Game! opening song ‘Sakura Skip‘ and watch the intro to the anime series below, remember those perfect characters if you have already seen the show, and introduce yourself to them if you have not.

I binge-watched my way through both seasons of New Game! in just three nights, I loved it that much.
