The MakeMakes and ‘I Am Yours’ to Represent Austria at Eurovision 2015 (Video)

After a six-song Austrian national final, alternative rock band The MakeMakes came out the winners last night, and will represent Austria at Eurovision 2015 in Vienna. The decision was made after two lots of voting – the first by 10 international juries, and the second by a telephone vote by the Austrian public.

As for the show itself, the Austrian national final opened with the six finalists singing their version of Conchita Wurst’s ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’, which was interesting as each artist sang it in their own personal style.

After the airing of taped interviews with each artist and performances of their six Eurovision entry songs for the main part of the show, they were back on stage again, but this time to perform Udo Jürgens ‘Merci Cherie‘, the song that won Eurovision for Austria back in 1966. A lovely tribute to Mr. Jürgens, who sadly died recently.

The last performance of the evening, before the announcement of the winning artist, was last year’s Eurovision Song Contest winner, Conchita Wurst, who was on stage to sing her new single ‘You Are Unstoppable‘.

And, of course, ignoring the minor mic problems right at the beginning of her song, she nailed the performance, just as she’s done with the other live performances of the newly unveiled ‘You Are Unstoppable‘ she’s done so far.

As for The MakeMakes, the winners of the evening, you can hear their winning song ‘I Am Yours’ below. Nice, eh?
