Rocker Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme have been working together in secret for quite a while now it seems. Something they revealed this week when they finally went public with a collaborative album the two have created.

The album is called Post Pop Depression and, soon after announcing its existence, they debuted the lead single from it — ‘Gardenia‘ — with a fabulous live performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night.

The live performance of the track was doubly interesting as it also featured accompaniment from Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, Chavez’s Matt Sweeney and QOTSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen and Dean Fertita.

Watch the live version of the song on Stephen Colbert in the video below that. Then check out the studio version of ‘Gardenia’ below that.

As for Post Pop Depression, it is a nine-track album that was recorded over just three weeks in Joshua Tree.

It releases on March 18th on Loma Vista Recordings, and is already available for pre-order. Let’s just say, it’s a must buy.
