18 new The Prisoner of Beauty character posters released as C-drama still at #1 on Tencent
Tencent Video has just dropped 18 new The Prisoner of Beauty character posters as the Chinese drama ended its run last week.
Along with the 18 character posters, which were released via the official Tencent Weibo account earlier today, and cover every lead and all main supporting characters, Tencent commented:
We are in the same boat through thick and thin, and fortunately, the person we love is there for us; stirring up the storm, treating life as worthless, will eventually backfire.
For the rest of my life, I will be happier than before. #折腰# The finale ends today!
The drama itself was a massive hit for Tencent, earning over 1 billion views, and still sitting at #1 on the streaming platform almost a week after the last episode dropped.
When it originally dropped, it had the strongest debut on WeTV in three years, swept every chart on the day its first episode premiered, and is still holding the #1 spot on WeTV’s Top 10 chart for 4 weeks now.
Yep, The Prisoner of Beauty is officially the #1 Chinese series of 2025. So far, at least.
Then again, is anyone who has watched this surprised the C-drama has performed so well?
I mean, I am the one who never watches more than two episodes of any drama back to back, then sat down and watched 5 1/2 episodes of The Prisoner of Beauty in one binge-session. On a Friday afternoon. In the middle of my work day. Lucky I work for myself, eh?
The Prisoner of Beauty stars what must be the perfect main cast of Song Zuer, Liu Yuning, Xuan Lu, and Liu Duanduan.
Its excellent supporting cast includes Wang Chengsi, Li Xueqin, Wu Haochen, Liu Yihong, Chu Zijun, Wei Zixin, Hu Xiaoting, Cola Yao, Liu Yu and Liu Xiaoqing.
Among others, the C-drama also features guest roles from such fine actors as Guo Jun, Yu Bo, Li Changzhi, Zhao Haifeng, Yang Qiyu and Han Jia Shun.
Enjoy the new character posters. You can watch The Prisoner of Beauty on WeTV, where all 36 episodes of this historical romance C-drama are now available for VIP subscribers.
And yes, as someone who watches for Chinese dramas than probably most of the planet, include half the Chinese, I can guarantee this one is one of 2025’s Top 10 must watches.
