The upcoming comedy romance anime A Couple of Cuckoos, Season 2 got a new trailer, a brand new character, a cute key visual and an official premiere date earlier today via the anime’s official X account.
That premiere date is now set as July, 2025, with new character introduced as online singer Ai Mochizuki (see above and below).
Ai is voiced by Hina Youmiya (Yuki in Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary), and she isn’t just the girl who has recently moved back to Japan from China.
She is also protagonist Nagi’s childhood friend, and someone who has been desperately in love with him since she was little.

Ai Mochizuki is also profiled in the new A Couple of Cuckoos key visual, as she looks mysteriously at the camera, and dramatically places her finger to her lips as an aghast Erika Amano and a blushing Nagi look on in the background.

The accompanying trailer has Erika talking about marrying Nagi, something which seems to surprise him. Followed by Nagi’s comments about their destinies moving in a particular direction.
It ends with the first appearance of Ai, who is thrilled she is finally back in Japan as it’s “10 years” since she last saw Nagi.
Yep, things are apparently about to get interesting.
A snippet of the A Couple of Cuckoos, Season 2 ending theme song — ‘Anata de Nakucha’ by 22/7 (Ending theme song #1 for Atri -My Dear Moments-) is also heard playing.
A Couple of Cuckoos, Season 2 details
Like its first season, A Couple of Cuckoos, Season 2 is also based on the hit manga series written and illustrated by Miki Yoshikawa.
This time, however, Season 2 is being directed by Masakazu Hishida (My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!), who is taking over from Season 1 director Yoshiyuki Shirahata.
Yuzuru Aoba is new to the staff and responsible for series composition, with Kyouko Kon (Classroom of the Elite) taking over the designing of the characters.
Studio Okuruto Noboru is also taking over animation from Season 1’s SynergySP, and Shin-Ei Animation, with a studio change always a concern, as we have seen so many disastrous results in popular anime in the past, eh?
We will just have to see how it goes.
As for the plot of Season 2 of A Couple of Cuckoos it goes like this:
Nagi Umino and Erika Amano.
