Earlier today, Chinese animation studio Foch Film released new character art on its official Weibo account for the upcoming new episodes of the hit 3D-animated donghua Against the Gods.
A donghua continuation that is eagerly anticipated by its fans, since its most recent episode, Episode 30 aired back on March 30th.
The latest character art released is for protagonist Yun Che, talented cultivator and Star God Realm’s crown princess Jasmine, and Chue Yuechan, First Fairy of Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace. (Who I think, is the best character in the entire series).
The new and highly detailed character art for all three makes the next installment of the fantasy donghua look even more appealing due to their slightly upgraded looks.
Against the Gods is animated by the aforementioned Foch Film, and produced by iQIYI and High Energy Studio.
The donghua’s first installment, which consisted of 30 episodes, premiered on September 23rd, 2023 and ran through March 30th, 2024.
It ended on a cliffhanger so, of course, the faster we get Episode 31 the better, right?
Where to read Against the Gods
The Against the Gods donghua is based on the popular still-ongoing Xuanhuan novel of the same name by Mars Gravity, which is far far ahead of the events of the animated series.
Meaning, if that cliffhanger annoyed you as much as it did many of us, there is a way to find out what happens next.
The novel itself currently has 2,074 chapters published (yes, it is a huge thing!), with every chapter available to read on Wuxia World who describes its plot like this:
Hunted for possessing a heaven-defying object, Yun Che is a young man in both that life and the next. Throwing himself off a cliff to spite his pursuers, Yun Che is reincarnated as Xiao Che, a recently poisoned teen in another realm.
Just as hated in this life as the previous one, Che must overcome his own hostile clan, his own inability to cultivate, and his own frosty fiancée.
There is no word yet on exactly when the new episodes of Against the Gods will premiere, but we will update you here at Leo Sigh as soon as that information comes out.
Until then, the first 30 episodes of the Against the Gods donghua are streaming via iQIYI for that platform’s VIP subscribers.
iQIYI also uploaded the entire 30 episodes of the donghua in one continuous 9-hour-and-4-minute video on its YouTube channel last month.
