According to Star News Korea, Canadian actor Ahn Hyo Seop is currently in talks to star in the upcoming K-drama Heavenly Night (working title taken from the Korean title 천국의 밤).
Rumors in the news about the 29-year-old actor’s involvement in Heavenly Night had already begun circulating on the Internet and by various news sources before the Star News Report.
That was when the Heavenly Night production company SIMSTORY responded saying that, yes, indeed, a role in the K-drama, which is being directed by Lovely Runner director Yoon Jong Ho, had been offered to Ahn Hyo Seop.
They went on to clarify “It is under positive review, but a final decision about the K-drama has not yet been made by the actor”.
Ahn Hyo Seop’s agency, The Present Company, then followed up SIMSTORY’s response, adding “Heavenly Night is one of the projects our actor has been offered”.
The plot of Heavenly Night
The upcoming K-drama sounds like it may be an interesting watch, whether Ahn Hyo Seop stars in it or not.
The plot is apparently based on a 2022 novel of the same name by Hwang Eui Geon. That novel follows the scandals surrounding a chaebol family, and the cosmetics industry they are involved in.
It specifically looks at the chaebol’s heiress who grew up as an illegitimate child, and so has always had that ‘scandal’ following her.
Things become worse when she becomes involved with star host, Cheon Gook, who is a former taekwondo athlete and now works at a secret club in a wealthy neighborhood.
Cheon Gook is a tall, well-built man who has had struggles of his own as his stepmother ran away with his late father’s life insurance money, and so left him in debt to the cosmetics industry.
Ahn Hyo Seop has been offered the role of Cheon Gook — a name that means ‘Heaven’, hence the K-drama’s title.
As you might expect, while the pair have the usual terrible people and horribly judgmental society to deal with, they are still able to find true love.
Fingers crossed Ahn Hyo Seop will accept the Heavenly Night role, as it sounds like a part that, with his superb acting skills, he could really get his teeth into.

Of course, the Canadian actor has already starred in several main roles in very successful K-dramas.
They include Dr. Romantic, Abyss, Lovers of the Red Sky (for which he won a Best Couple award alongside co-star Kim You Jung), Business Proposal and his most recent drama A Time Called You.
If he accepts the Heavenly Night role, from its plot alone, it is likely to become another big success for him.
