Akebi’s Sailor Uniform opening theme ‘Hajimari no Setsuna’ is sweet and addictive — Listen!

Hajimari no Setsuna‘ by Rōbai Gakuen Chūtōbu 1-nen 3-kumi is far more addictive than you might think

When I first heard the Akebi’s Sailor Uniform opening theme song, I was disappointed.

That is because the sweet song sounded a little lightweight, and not an OP that I felt fit with the theme of Akebi’s Sailor Uniform particularly.

As it turns out, how wrong I was as, just three or four episodes into this lovely slice-of-life anime, and I was as addicted to the Akebi’s Sailor Uniform opening theme song as I am to Dororo‘s first ending theme.

The Akebi’s Sailor Uniform OP is called ‘Hajimari no Setsuna‘, and is performed by Rōbai Gakuen Chūtōbu 1-nen 3-kumi — a new vocal group made up of all 16 main cast members.

Hajimari no Setsuna‘ is ‘The First Moment‘ in English.

With the yuri undertones this almost all-girl anime gets as it progresses, the lyrics of the song sung about liking someone fit it perfectly too.

I think it would be nice if time stopped
Although I don’t know anything yet
Why? I like you already
From the first moment

It really is the sweetest thing.

They have this to say about the Akebi’s Sailor Uniform plot:

Akebi Komichi has been accepted into Roubai Academy, the middle school her mother, Yuwa, went to. Komichi has dreamed of wearing a sailor uniform ever since she saw her favorite idol, Fukumoto Miki, wearing one. She puts on the brand-new sailor uniform Yuwa made for her and, at last, heads off to her entrance ceremony.

She starts out full of hope that she can make lots of new friends, but then she notices that all the other students are wearing blazers. It turns out the school’s official uniform has changed from a sailor uniform to a blazer..
