Actress, comedian, Golden Globes host, writer and director Amy Poehler has finally been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (she should have been given one years ago).
And during the ceremony for presentation of her star yesterday, Poehler was just as gracious, down-to-earth and as thankful as you would expect her to be, giving a lovely speech about how she had had help from so many people to get where she is today.
She finished by saying,
“Growing up as a daughter of two public school teachers, I knew very little about Hollywood or Los Angeles and I’d never seen the Walk of Fame. I had no brush with greatness. I knew no one that was an actor or writer. I never imagined I would be here, truly. It’s a genuine honor.”
Watch Amy Poehler talking about how she felt on her big day in the video below, as well as why she’s not worried about her new movie Sisters (releasing December 18th) going up against the new Star Wars movie.
