Streisand should have hit Trump harder
Superstar Barbra Streisand is back with a new single from her upcoming studio album Walls. The song is called ‘Don’t Lie To Me‘, and it targets Trump.
The song’s lyrics, however, are a bit bland. Which is a shame, as it could have been a powerful anti-Trump song given the gorgeous melody and Streisand’s stunning as always voice.
With lyrics like this, however, the words of ‘Don’t Lie To Me‘ are less a hard slap back at Trump and a bit more ho hum:
“How do you sleep when the world keeps turning?
All that we built has come undone.
How do you sleep when the world is burning?
Everyone answers to someone.
Why can’t you just tell me the truth?
Hard to believe the things you say”
(Because don’t you think that f*cker deserves a helluva lot sharper lyrics than those?)
Streisand told Vogue in a recent interview, though, that she decided to “make it more subtle”, so the song could be about a relationship as much as it could be about Trump. So, while it is definitely a beautiful love song, it’s a pity Streisand didn’t go harder against Trump.
But, ‘Don’t Lie To Me‘ is just the first song from Walls. An album which apparently is Streisand back to being as political as we have ever seen her.
You GO, girl!!!
Streisand herself, however, sounds a little bit worried about what fans may think about what is essentially a protest album:
“I don’t know how people are going to take it. It just came from my gut. It came from my brain. It came from my heart, my soul. It came from my anger, and it came from my sadness.”
Then again, fans shouldn’t really be that surprised.
Barbra Streisand has always been one of the Democratic Party’s biggest supporters, and outspoken about it as well. She was also a massive supporter of Hillary Clinton, and has been extremely critical of Trump many times since the election on her Twitter account.
Just in the last few days, Streisand tweeted the following tweets about Trump, and about his support of Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court:
Accused of sexual assault by 19 women… how did Trump get to be the President of the United States? https://t.co/6Zi64rmXdH

See…far less ‘subtle’ than ‘Don’t Lie To Me’.
‘Don’t Lie To Me’ is Barbra Streisand’s first song from Walls and, don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful song. And ridiculously addictive.
I just think Trump deserves to be smacked upside the head (figuratively) every chance we get. And I wish Streisand had used ‘Don’t Lie To Me‘ to hit him a little harder.
