With not very many Boys’ Love anime being made, when a new one is announced, it is pretty much a given BL lovers like me will have just had the best ever week.
Such is the case then with the just-announced Boys’ Love anime The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter.Â
An upcoming anime adaptation of the hit light novel series of the same name written by Yatsuki Wakatsu and illustrated by Kikka Ohashi, and one that BL fans have been obsessing over for years.
That anime announcement also got a celebratory visual from manga artist Kazuki Irodori, who had this to say about the anime adaptation:

The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter light novels and manga
That BL light novel was first published in Japan in book form in February, 2019, and has since spawned six volumes.
There is also a popular The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter manga adaptation that features the most gorgeous art style from manga artist Kazuki Irodori, and the coolest looking main characters.

Both the light novel and the manga adaptation are also now published in English via Yen Press, with the light novel having two volumes out so far, with Volume 3 due to hit shelves in the first quarter of 2025, and the manga getting its fifth volume on December 10th. this year.

What is the The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter plot?
The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter follows 29-year-old accountant Seiichirou Kondou who, when a hero is summoned from our modern world into another fantasy world, he is accidentally summoned along with her.
Now in his new isekai life, and not too thrilled about it, Kondou is awarded all his living expenses by the Romany Kingdom in compensation for being caught up in a hero summoning.
The problem is Kondou has never had anything going on in his life except his job and, without one, he feels lost.
So he demands a job, and is eventually placed in the Royal Accounting Department. It is there he meets the handsome Commander Aresh, who saves Kondou’s life after he does something he shouldn’t.
But now, his life has become even more complicated as he suddenly finds himself in a physical relationship with Commander Aresh, who tells him, don’t worry about it, it’s just a form of “medical treatment”. Hmmmmmm.
When does the The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter anime premiere?
Unfortunately, no more details about the upcoming Boys’ Love anime have been released as yet.
