Buried Hearts Ep 1 premieres to higher ratings than Love Scout

The SBS drama Love Scout was one of the most successful K-dramas in the last few months. Now, its successor, Buried Hearts premiered last night to even higher ratings than the first episode of Love Scout back in early January.

According to Nielsen Korea, Buried Hearts, Episode 1 earned 6.1 percent of the nationwide audience share on Friday night, which is almost one full percentage point higher than the 5.2 percent Love Scout earned for its own first episode.

Considering Love Scout then went on to finish with 12.0 percent of the viewership for its series finale, if Buried Hearts continues with such strong ratings, it could end up doing even better.

The strong ratings for Buried Hearts, Episode 1 also continued in Seoul, where viewers in that region gave the latest SBS revenge drama 6.0 percent of the audience share.

Early ratings from international viewers

Now, personally, I don’t understand rating a drama after just one episode has aired, but some people do that anyway.

Case in point, 189 users of My Drama List have rated Buried Hearts, Episode 1 an average of 8.1 out of 10.

A good rating from users of that site, who often downrate a K-drama’s first couple of episodes, and one that bodes well for its future ratings.

Comments too are overwhelmingly positive so far.

Meanwhile, over on IMDB, with just a handful of people rating Buried Hearts after Episode 1, the Korean drama is currently earning a very strong 8.6 out of 10.

Buried Hearts stars Park Hyung Sik, Huh Joon Ho, Lee Hae Young and Hong Hwa Yeon.

It airs every Friday and Saturday on SBS in South Korea, with Disney+ streaming it internationally.

Episode 2 of the Korean revenge drama premieres tonight. With more competition on a Saturday night from other dramas, let’s see if it can continue its strong ratings then.
