Can you watch ‘Boruto’ without having seen ‘Naruto’? Yes, and you should, it’s cool (video)

Can you watch ‘Boruto‘ without ever having seen ‘Naruto‘?

Have you always heard about the popular Japanese anime series ‘Naruto‘, but have never had time to watch it?

Did you also hear about the new anime series ‘Boruto‘, but feel like you will never be able to watch that either seeing as how it is a continuation of ‘Naruto‘?

Then you may want to watch this video from IGN’s Miranda Sanchez, who talks to Crunchyroll’s Victoria Holden about ‘Boruto‘.

Because she believes, and I agree with her, that you can actually start watching ‘Boruto‘ without ever having seen an episode of its predecessor ‘Naruto‘, simply because it really can be viewed as a stand-alone piece.

As Holden explains it, ‘Boruto‘, which follows the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki‘s son Boruto Uzumaki and his ninja team, doesn’t really require you to know anything about the world of Naruto, as anything you need to know to understand the series is skillfully explained in ‘Boruto‘.

The series explains all the ninja terms from the original series, so you learn what chakra is, what the chuunin exams are, and everything else you will need to know to be able to get involved in ‘Boruto‘ and grow to empathize with and love the characters.

There are also characters that explain the ninja world to other characters, which is a cool way of educating new viewers who would otherwise be confused.

You also do not need to know how Naruto and the other main characters got to where they are today as, even though they do appear in ‘Boruto’ quite often, they are not the main characters here.

Besides, there is so much in ‘Boruto‘ to love by itself (gorgeous artwork, interesting characters, fast-paced fight scenes and interesting storylines), by the time you have watched a few episodes, you will be clamoring to make time to get through all of the episodes of ‘Naruto’ as well.

Make time for ‘Naruto’ as well

Of course, you can just stick to ‘Boruto‘ but, if you do, just be aware you will never have the perspective a long-time ‘Naruto‘ fan has if you have never seen this popular anime series, as you won’t have gone through all the problems Naruto had starting out, or seen him grown into adulthood and have a family of his own, and ultimately become the Seventh Hokage.

Which is why I recommend, if you do end up enjoying ‘Boruto‘, make time to start watching ‘Naruto‘ as well. After all, it is one of the most popular anime series ever made for a reason because, come on, no TV series has 720 episodes if fans don’t love it.

But, if you are looking for a cool Japanese anime to get addicted to, and don’t have time to watch all 720 episodes of ‘Naruto‘ and ‘Naruto: Shippenden‘ just yet, then ‘Boruto‘ is a fabulous place to start.

Watch the IGN video below to see if you feel like you need to have watched ‘Naruto‘ before attempting to get into ‘Boruto‘ but, I guarantee you, you do not.

You can watch ‘Boruto‘ on a variety of websites, including Crunchyroll. Just do a search and find the one that works the best for you.
