After not being rated particularly high for its first season, the upcoming second season of the action fantasy anime Chained Soldier (aka Mato Seihei no Slave) has moved from its original studio Seven Arcs to its new studio Studio Passione.
Along with this weekend’s announcement of a new studio via the anime’s official website, a new director was also named with Season 1’s Gorou Kuji being replaced by Masafumi Tamura (The Misfit of Demon King Academy).
The Chained Soldier character designer has also been changed for Season 2, with Season 1’s Hiroyuki Yoshii dropping out to be replaced by Keiya Nakano (Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky).
Chained Soldier, Season 2 was originally announced back in March soon after the first season ended.
A new key visual was also released at the same time.
No other details were announced at the time, with the studio, director and character designer changes only now hitting the news.
There is no word yet on when Season 2 will premiere, if it will run the same 12-episodes of Season 1, or if it will stream on HIDIVE like Season 1.
We will keep you updated here on Leo Sigh as more information is released.
The Chained Soldier anime is based on the hit manga series written by Takahiro and illustrated by Yohei Takamura.
Yen Press is publishing the series in English, with eight volumes already out, Volume 9 due to hit shelves tomorrow, July 23rd, and Volume 10 in October.
The American publisher describes its plot like this:
Decades ago, gates to an otherworldly and dangerous dimension known as Mato-the “Demon City”-appeared across Japan. Those who partook in the “peaches” growing there gained unique abilities-but only if they’re girls.
When down-in-the-dumps high school boy Yuuki Wakura finds himself caught up in a gate, he’s saved by Kyouka Uzen, the beautiful commander of the 7th squad of the Demon Defense Force, who…orders him to become her slave?!
If you missed the action fantasy ecchi anime series, Season 1 of Chained Soldier is currently streaming on HIDIVE.
