With the anime slipping through the international cracks when it comes to people watching it and loving it, I am thrilled to see Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (aka Tensui no Sakuna-hime) officially getting a second season.
That Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Season 2 was announced via a post on the anime’s official X account, with a link to a news article on the anime’s official website.
That article informs Sakuna fans of these things:
On this occasion, to celebrate the 4th anniversary of “Sakuna of Rice and Ruin” on November 12th, the “Sakuna of Rice and Ruin” project has been announced!
Three major new projects have been unveiled: a game for smartphones, an anime sequel, and a new consumer game.
Along with this announcement, a visual (see below) showcasing all three projects has been released! The illustration was specifically drawn by Ryouta Murayama, who was in charge of character design for “Sakuna of Rice and Ruin.”
The website goes on to add:
Furthermore, comments have been received from the production team, including Koichi, the original creator of “Sakuna of Rice and Ruin,” and Shoji Souma P, the line producer for the “Sakuna of Rice and Ruin” anime!!
The website then showcases those comments, with all involved exclaiming how, like fans of the action fantasy anime, they are happy they are for a Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Season 2.
While no more information has yet been announced about Season 2 and its staff, the first season was directed by Masayuki Yoshihara (Uma Musume: Pretty Derby), Jukki Hanada (Sengoku Youko) in charge of series composition and scripts, and Mio Fujishima (Skip to Loafer) creating those gorgeous character designs.
P.A. Works (Mayonaka Punch) animated the lovely series.
We will keep you updated here at Leo Sigh as soon as more information is released about Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Season 2.
Until then, check out the beautiful trailer from Toho Animation for Season 1.
You can watch Season 1 of the anime series on Netflix.
Yeah, I couldn’t be happier about this.
