Creepy ‘This Monster Wants to Eat Me’ trailer drops with an ‘I’ve come to devour you’ visual of Shiori
It’s still a few months before the supernatural girls’ love anime This Monster Wants to Eat Me drops, but the creepy trailer released today might just spark fans’ interest in it even more.
The new This Monster Wants to Eat Me trailer is basically a trailer full of stills, but the way the voice actress instills a creepiness about protagonist Shiori (the monster/mermaid herself), and the plot, is quite effective.
Shiori’s voice actress, by the way, is Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Akerman in Attack on Titan) and, yet again, she does a brilliant job here.
The new This Monster Wants to Eat Me trailer also came with an ‘I’ve come to devour you’ visual that is just as creepy, as it has Shiori, half-transformed into her mermaid form, grinning maniacally while covered in blood.
It follows on from the previous visual featuring Shiori, Hinako and Miko eating snacks.
This Monster Wants to Eat Me anime adaptation
The upcoming girls’ love anime series is based on the You Want to Eat Me, Monster (私を喰べたい、ひとでなし) manga written and illustrated by Sai Naekawa.
A manga that has been very popular in Japan, as it currently has 10 volumes out.
Yuusuke Suzuki (Duel Masters) directs, with Mitsutaka Hirota (Edens Zero) providing both series composition and scripts, and Su Ikuyama as the character designer.
Girls’ love experts Studio Lings (Oomuro-ke: Dear Sisters) are in charge of anime production.
As for the anime’s weird plot, the first volume of the original Japanese manga describes it like this:
“I’ve come to devour you.”
Suddenly appearing, the mermaid girl, Shiori, gently takes the hand of Himako — a high school girl living alone in a seaside town — and whispers to her tenderly.
Drawn by Himako’s irresistibly delicious flesh and blood, which attracts supernatural beings, Shiori decides to protect her until she matures, reaching peak flavor,
and then — consume every last bit of her.Faced with this absurd fate of impending death, what emotions surge within Himako’s heart?
“Perhaps, if it’s this person… they might just…”
The anime premieres in October during the Fall, 2025 anime season.
