British comedian David Walliams is one of my all-time favorite comedians and writers, so I was thrilled to find out he is currently writing a new sketch show for the BBC. News he broke on his Twitter account this week:
“Excited to say I’m making a new sketch show for @BBCOne The BBC asked for another #BigSchool series but sadly there wasn’t time to do both”.
After all, it has been more than 10 years since Walliams wrote his last sketch show, Little Britain, so it is no wonder a huge chunk of the UK public is chomping at the bit to see something new from him.
That does mean, however, Walliams will not be writing a third series of his hit show ‘Big School‘, so that has been cancelled.
Viewer numbers fell drastically in the second season, though, which probably goes part way to explaining why, when the BBC asked for a third series, he told them he would rather do a new sketch show and they agreed.
There’s no word yet what the focus of the new show will be but, come on, it’s David Walliams so it is bound to be good.
