Death Stranding Director’s Cut gets Gamescom extended look to show off enhanced visuals and new content

As someone who has never played the action video game Death Stranding, but has watched a walkthrough of the entire game, I am more than excited for the soon-to-be released Death Stranding Director’s Cut.

After all, when it comes to standout action games from the last couple of years, Death Stranding has to be close to the top of the pile.

Yesterday, Gamescom Opening Night Live producer Geoff Keighley’s Twitter page announced an “extended look” at the Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be seen on that show, moving my excitement about the upcoming release into orbit.

Keighley, of course, is a huge fan of game mastermind Hideo Kojima, so it’s no wonder he is promoting the Japanese video game designer/director/producer on his shows so much.

Other games that will be showing up on the Gamescom opening night kick-off include Call of Duty: Vanguard, Sifu and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Gamescom itself runs from Wednesday, August 25th to Friday, August 27th and, sadly, due to the panic over Covid-19 like last year’s event it will be held 100% online.

The livestream begins on Wednesday at 11a PT / 2p ET / 7p BST / 8p CEST, with the Death Stranding Director’s Cut extended look likely to be closer to the end of the two-hour show — just to keep your attention, you know.

You can watch it on YouTube.

The Death Stranding Director’s Cut itself is launching for PlayStation5 on September 24th.

The extended game will include new content, enhanced game features, more weapons, equipment and vehicles, new modes, missions and areas to explore and expanded storylines.

The UI will also get some enhancements that will improve gameplay.
