Dekin no Mogura trailer features COOL art style, Yuichi Nakamura’s superb voice acting, hints at Mermaid Island arc

The art style in new Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole trailer is spectacular

If you like an unusual art style in your anime, I would suggest you add upcoming supernatural comedy series Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole to your watchlist, as the visual in this one is stunning.

For those who haven’t read the manga the anime is based on yet, those wild-looking visuals are on full display today in the just-released new Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole trailer.

So much so, Japanese readers who are already familiar with the cool art in the Natsumi Eguchi manga, are raving about just well the visuals have been translated from the manga to the anime.

Yuichi Nakamura is the perfect Momoyuki Mogura

In that trailer, we not only get a good look at what a visual standout the Dekin no Mogura anime looks to be, but also a listen to the wonderful voice acting of voice actor Yuichi Nakamura as he plays protagonist and self-proclaimed “sage” Momoyuki Mogura.

Japanese fans are pointing out the production team could not have chosen a better actor than Nakamura for the part, with comments like:

I’m getting more and more excited for this. It hasn’t even started yet, but every time I see a preview, Nakamura seems to fit the role perfectly.

Then again, with roles under his belt like Gojou in Jujutsu Kaisen, Gray in Fairy Tale, Tomoya Okazaki in Clannad, Hajime Umemiya in Wind Breaker and Keigo Takami in My Hero Academia, you really wouldn’t expect any less now, would you?

That art style is amazing!

The Mermaid Island arc is official

Just as exciting as the excellent voice acting and the stunning visuals is that the manga’s Mermaid Island arc is also hinted at in the trailer.

As that arc is one of the manga’s most-loved, that alone is causing fans to become ecstatic with joy at the thought of finally seeing it animated.

Throw in that the anime’s ED “Kensou (喧騒)” by Sheeno Mirin (椎乃味醂) feat. Aile The Shota, also heard in the trailer, is a banger, and I haven’t seen this much excitement after a trailer dropped in months.

Two new Dekin no Mogura characters and their voice actors revealed

Character designs for two new characters, and their voice actors, have also been revealed via the Dekin no Mogura X account.

They are:

Maggie, Spirit of the Red Panda, who is being voiced by Aki Toyosaki (Aoi Inuyama in Laid-back Camp) and Sukekiyo, the manager at Magi’s part-time job, who is being played by Mafia Kajita (Gurasan in Warlords of Sigrdrifa).

Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole production details

The upcoming comedy anime is being directed by Hiroshi Ishiodori (An Archdemon’s Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride), with Shinzo Fujita (To Your Eternity) in charge of series composition, and Youko Tanabe (The Tale of Outcasts) designing those amazing looking characters.

Brain’s Base (Natsume’s Book of Friends) is animating.

As for its plot, Volume 1 of the original Japanese manga describes it thus:

One day, university students Magi and Yaeko come across a man injured by a Kojien dictionary that suddenly fell from the sky. There is something strange about this man, as he is bleeding from his head but refuses to be attended by ambulances or police.

Furthermore, since meeting this man, Maki and Yaeko have begun to see strange things…

Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole premieres on July 7th. Make sure you add it to your watchlist, as my guess is this one will be really unusual.
