Dinosaur Jr. has been one of my favorite indie bands for more than 25 years. Today, Dinosaur Jr. announced an American tour this summer that will hit 14 US cities, all of them along with rock band Primus. So, yes, you can color me stoked.

The band hasn’t released any new music for a while (2012, to be exact, with ‘I Bet on Sky‘), but who cares. Even if they’re playing stuff that is three years old or older, it’s still Dinosaur Jr., and Primus, coming to a US city near you this summer.

And nothing could be finer.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 3rd. Make sure you grab them fast, as I have a feeling this one will be a sellout.

As for the Dinosaur Jr./Primus concert dates, here are your choices:

July 17 – Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre – Wallingford, CT
July 18 – Lincoln Theatre – Raleigh, NC
July 20 – The Fillmore Charlotte – Charlotte, NC

And, of course, if you haven’t listened to Dinosaur Jr. for a while, here’s one of their classics to jog your memory. ‘Whatever’s Cool with Me’.
