Ellie Goulding’s official video for her latest single ‘Army‘ has just been released, and it pays tribute to female friends. Or, should I say, to one best friend in particular — Goulding’s closest friend, Hannah.
Back in October, Ellie Goulding wrote about Hannah on her Instagram page saying, among other things, that she was the one who was the person “who has seen me at my lowest and is the first person I call in muffled sobs when something bad happens”.
Goulding went on to say, “When I’m with you, I’m standing with an army”. And that’s why she wrote the song.
As for Goulding’s ‘Army‘ video, it’s a gorgeous black and white montage of Ellie and Hannah together. Traveling together, talking together, laughing together, eating together, clowning around together — a montage of true best friends, who love each other and support each other no matter what.
“I just wanted to show our friendship for what it really is — honest, real, electric,” Goulding wrote on her Tumblr when ‘Army’ was first released late last year.
I think she did that perfectly.
