English language Sugar Apple Fairy Tale manga Vol. 1 out in April – the adorable story of Anne and Challe in comic form

The official English language manga adaptation of the Sugar Apple Fairy Tale light novel series is about to be published by Yen Press.

With its anime adaptation currently streaming outside Japan via Crunchyroll, and doing very well with viewers, it is likely to become a big seller for the American manga and graphic novel publisher.

Especially as, although there are 17 volumes of the light novel series, there are only two volumes of the manga published (both in Japanese and English), so readers don’t have to invest in the first of a long series of books.

And because, of course, the Sugar Apple Fairy Tale story is so adorable.

The plot of the Sugar Apple Fairy Tale manga

The Sugar Apple Fairy Tale manga series is based on the original story by light novel author Miri Mikawa, with art by Yozorano Udon and with those beautiful character designs (see cover art above) by Aki.

Yen Press describes the Sugar Apple Fairy Tale story like this:

In a world where fairies are bought and sold to the highest bidder, humans aren’t exactly on friendly terms with the fae folk. But friendship is exactly what Anne Halford seeks with Challe, her new fairy bodyguard, though he is not so keen on the idea.

As his new master, Anne tasks him with escorting her through a particularly dangerous area, but with a reluctant bodyguard eager to escape a life of servitude, she may have to deal with a lot more than she bargained for…

The official English language version of the Sugar Apple Fairy Tale manga Volume 1 is due out on April 18th, 2023 via Yen Press, in both trade paperback and digital versions.

The gorgeous cover art for Volume 1, featuring the ever-smiling Anne and the much more reserved Challe, has already been released in anticipation of its publishing (see above).

No word yet, though, on when the second volume will be out.
