The nine new stills show Liu Ling at the business end of abuse he shouldn’t be receiving. Then again, Concubine Zhang is a terrible woman, so there’s that.

The Emperor also makes an appearance in the last still, while Yao Ji appears to be all but sprinkling fairy dust on the situation.

Wonder Cat also commented on Everything is Fine with the Emperor, Episode 4:

In the cold palace, Liu Ling faces a sudden crisis—accused by other concubines of poisoning Concubine Zhang with food. At this life-and-death moment, Liu Ling actually takes the poison himself to prove his innocence?

In addition, to qualify for the Eastern Palace assessment, Liu Ling needs a recommendation from a Grand Scholar. Concubine Xue assigns him a secret mission—to deliver a letter of recommendation to the Grand Scholar.

However, this reveals a deeper story: the concubines were implicated in a family rebellion and have been confined to the cold palace for life.

In this complex situation, how will Liu Ling move forward?

And that description alone goes a long way to proving why I am loving watching Everything is Fine with the Emperor so much.

It has an actual well-written and fully-formed plot, with interesting events and characters that react to those events the way you probably would in real life if the same things happened to you.

So far then, it’s getting a big thumbs up from me!
