It is nice to see the ratings for Face Me, Episode 4 rise back up to what has been normal for the Korean drama since it premiered on November 6th.
The latest episode of the excellent mystery medical drama aired on KBS2 last night to the same nationwide rating (3.1 percent) it earned for Episode 2, and only a tiny drop from Episode 1’s viewership of 3.3 percent.
The K-drama also returned to close to Episode 1’s rating of 3.2 percent in Seoul, with Episode 4 grabbing 2.9 percent.
What are the international ratings for Face Me?
A sizable number of nternational viewers are also rating Face Me with very high average ratings over on Viki, where it is streaming.
According to their latest data, Face Me is currently being awarded a very high 9.6 out of 10 from the 363 viewers rating it so far.
Yes, Viki’s ratings tend to skew high, so I would probably look at that as more likely a score in the high 8.0s or low 9.0s, but that still means it is a very well-liked drama by the people watching it.
Meanwhile, the Korean drama is being rated low on My Drama List (a crazy low average rating of 7.7 out of 10) from the 412 people who have rated it. (Shocker, eh?)
While the other 4,808 people have marked themselves as watching Face Me on the site haven’t rated the K-drama yet.
Again, while that site is excellent for finding information about the Asian dramas you like, I generally recommend people take MDL’s ratings with a grain of salt, as it is populated by a sizable number of people whose lives’ mission seems to be destroying any drama that “offends” them, isn’t a romance drama, or doesn’t star the particular actor they like.
So much so with Face Me, you will see from the stats at MDL, those same people rated the drama an average of 7.7 after one episode had aired.
In other words, a good rule of thumb is to add at least a 0.5 rating onto any rating on MDL to counteract the trolls, and you will usually get a more accurate idea of its true worth.
And yes, that would give Face Me an 8.2, which is more in the ballpark of its actual worth.
Face Me stars Lee Min Ki, (who is doing a stellar job as cold plastic surgeon Cha Jeong U), and Han Ji Hyun (who definitely has that perfect condescending look on her face every time she speaks to Jeong U), and who are nicely backed up by the superb talents of Lee Yi Kyung and Jeon Bae Soo.
The Korean drama airs every Wednesday and Thursday on KBS2, and streams on Viki internationally.
