Family By Choice Eps 5 and 6 earn personal best ratings as K-drama very popular with international viewers

The ongoing JTBC drama Family By Choice, Episodes 5 and 6 aired last night in South Korea, with both earning consecutive all-time high ratings — both nationwide and in Seoul.

Those ratings nationwide were 2.49 percent for Episode 5 and 2.64 percent for Episode 6 — both very nice increases from where the K-drama started with its first episode on October 9th (2.07 percent).

Wednesday night’s back-to-back episodes of Family By Choice also performed well with viewers in Seoul, with Episode 5 grabbing 2.29 percent while Episode 6 earned 2.33 percent.

Not quite as much of an increase as with viewers nationwide, but getting there.

Family By Choice going gangbusters on Viki

Outside South Korea, Family By Choice is streaming on Viki where it is hugely successful as, with just six episodes out, the K-drama is already being rated a incredibly high 9.8 out of 10 by almost 4,000 viewers.

Sure, Viki subscribers tend to rate dramas higher than people on other platforms, but that rating is even high for them.

Three of the drama’s actors are also on this week’s Most Buzzworthy Drama Actors list, and the K-drama is #6 on the Buzzworthy Dramas list.

The next 10 episodes of Family By Choice will also be aired/streamed on Wednesday evenings with two back-to-back episodes each time, which is something viewers seem to like, so we may see more ratings rises as the series progresses.

The K-drama will then air its final two episodes on November 27th.

The Korean drama stars a stellar ensemble cast of some of Korea’s best actors including Hwang In Youp, Jung Chae Yeon, Bae Hyun Sung, Choi Won Young, Choi Moo Sung, Seo Ji Hye, Kim Hye Eun, and Baek Eun Hye.

You can watch Episodes 5 and 6 now on Viki.
