The first official photographs of Princess Charlotte have been released by Kensington Palace on both Instagram and Twitter. She’s just a month old in the four photographs, and being cradled by older brother, Prince George’s.

The photographs were taken by the children’s mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, at the family’s country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and they’re beautiful.

And that right there shows how the Duchess of Cambridge is so different than many of the royal women who came before her. She’s ignored the official protocol for the first photographs of a royal baby, that of having an official photographer, and instead taken the pictures herself.

Just as her father did when he took the first official photographs of Prince George just two years ago.

As for Princess Charlotte, the Duchess of Cambridge took the photographs of her new daughter in mid-May when she was just a month old. Prince George, of course, is two. The pair together are the future of the British monarchy. And what a lovely future they are.

Now look at these gorgeous photos, and see just how much love Prince George already has for his baby sister. Doesn’t that look like those two are going to be inseparable for many years to come?
