If you have been dying to play real-time strategy games Halo Wars or Halo Wars 2, but have never gotten around to either game, head over to Xbox One’s Free Play Days event this weekend, as both games are free to play until Sunday at 11.59pm PST.
The offer is only available for Xbox Live Gold members.
And, if you enjoy the games, both Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition and Definitive Edition will be on sale at a 50 percent discount through the same time period.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be just $10, with Halo Wars 2: Standard Edition on sale at $20 and Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition for $30.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition — an enhanced version of the original 2009 game — was released in 2016 on both Xbox One and Windows. It garnered positive reviews, with an 82/100 at Metacritic. Gamers in particular loved the game’s plot, the controls, the cinematics and voice acting.
Halo Wars 2 released a year later in February, 2017. It too gained generally positive reviews, although it was not as well-liked as the first game in the series. Primarily due to many saying the AI was too easy, so it felt more of a great game for a beginner RTS player, than for one that was more experienced.
If you would like to know more about game play in either of the games before you check them out during Xbox One’s Free Play Days event, watch the first video in a Halo Wars walkthrough from YouTube gamer SantosxO7 below.
