Dame Helen Mirren is known for being upfront and frank. Telling it like it is has been one of her trademarks for decades. So, it’s not surprising to see Mirren in a new Budweiser Super Bowl ad calling drunk drivers “cowards” and “Darwin-award deservers”.
The Budweiser Super Bowl spot has been deliberately written to warn drunk drivers that what they do is disgusting, and Helen Mirren has no problem delivering that message.
Sitting in front of her own bottle of Budweiser beer, Mirren says “If you drive drunk, you, simply put, are a short-sighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting, human form of pollution. A Darwin-award deserving, selfish coward. If your brain was donated to science, science would return it. So stop it.”
But she also goes on to add, “Now the chances are you’re a fun, solid, respectable human being. Don’t be a pillock”.
Because even Dame Helen Mirren, the “notoriously frank and uncensored British lady”, can see the good side of you, and hopes you can as well. So you don’t go off killing yourself, or somebody else, while you’re behind the wheel of a car in a drunken haze.
Watch Mirren’s Budweiser Super Bowl spot below. And, of course, check it out again during this weekend’s Super Bowl 50. Thanks, Helen.
