The theme song for the upcoming new anime series Hōkago Saikoro Club (Afterschool Dice Club) and its singer have just been announced. The opening theme is called ‘Present Moment‘, and is sung by voice actress Miyu Tomita.
Tomita is also one of the voice actors in Houkago Saikoro Club, playing the role of Midori Ono.
And, while Miyu Tomita may be a seasoned voice actress, having starred in Made in Abyss, Miss Vampire Who Lives in My Neighborhood and Gabriel DropOut to name just a few, Tomita’s ‘Present Moment‘ will be her debut solo single. (She was one of a trio of singers to provide the opening theme song for Please Tell Me! Galko-chan,).
Tomita’s ‘Present Moment‘ single itself will be released in Japan in November.
The Hōkago Saikoro Club plot
As for Hōkago Saikoro Club, it is based on the popular manga series by Hiroo Nakamichi.
The anime series tells the story of a group of high school girls who get involved in playing board games when they visit a shop called The Dice Club, and soon find themselves playing a German board game together.
They enjoy it so much, soon after, they start their own afterschool board game club where they play a new game every week.
The anime series Hōkago Saikoro Club will begin airing in October, 2019. No word yet, though on who will be licensing it for viewing in the west. Very likely to be Crunchyroll though. (Update: Yes, Crunchyroll).
The series is directed by Kenichi Imaizumi,
Meanwhile, watch the Hōkago Saikoro Club trailer below. As a board game-obsessed gamer, that definitely looks like something I am going to like.
