How many Pokémon species are there in Pokémon: Detective Pikachu?

With 809 total Pokémon species in existence at the moment, fans are wondering how many Pokémon species will be in the upcoming live action movie Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.

After all, with this being the first live action movie based on the Pokémon series, surely Warner Bros. and The Pokémon Company will try to include as many different Pokémon in the film as possible? As that is a great way to get Pokémon fans to see the film, (although it looks so good, I doubt most will need much encouragement).

Of course, nobody yet knows just how many Pokémon species there are in Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, as that fact is not likely to emerge until the movie is released in early May, 2019.

That being said, YouTube channel Screen Rant has gone out of their way to identify all the Pokémon they noticed in the first Pokémon: Detective Pikachu trailer released just a couple of weeks ago.

These include a Charmander, a Dodrio, a Bouffalant, a Flabébé, a Comfey, a Braviary, a Psyduck, several Emolga, some Joltiks and a lot more.

Check out Screen Rants’ video below of every Pokémon species they have discovered in the two minute 20 second movie trailer.

You can watch the actual Pokémon: Detective Pikachu trailer below that yourself, and see if you can spot any more Pokémon species than they already have.

Who knows. Your eye for a Pokémon species may be even better than theirs.
