Cool I, The Executioner character posters of Hwang Jung Min and Jung Hae In released

New character posters for the upcoming action thriller I, The Executioner have been released to the Korean news media.

The posters feature main leads Hwang Jung Min and Jung Hae In fighting against an unseen enemy in a torrential downpour, while confirming the film’s September 13th, 2024 release.

In the first poster, Hwang Jung Min, in his role as veteran detective Seo Do Cheol, has his handcuffs in one hand while, with the other, he appears to have just thrown someone down onto the rain-soaked street.

Meanwhile in poster two, Jung Hae In, as the force’s youngest detective Park Sun Woo, appears to be kicking the person or holding them down with his foot.

The scenes in the two posters do a superb job of showing off the gritty style of today’s Korean action films.

What is I, The Executioner?

The upcoming South Korean action thriller is the sequel to the hit 2015 film Veteran.

It stars Hwang Jung Min, who is reprising his role from the first film, alongside Jung Hae In as two detectives who collaborate to take down a serial killer who is terrorizing the city.

The sequel is being directed by the same screenwriter and director as the first film, Ryu Seung Wan, who recently said this about the film:

Since the release of ‘Veteran’ in 2015, I have been thinking that I would make a sequel someday. It’s actually a project that has been in my head for nine years, so it’s even more meaningful to complete ‘Veteran 2’. I hope audiences will enjoy the film as much as we enjoyed making it.

I, The Executioner premiered as a midnight screening at the Cannes Film Festival in May of this year, and was awarded predominantly excellent reviews from critics, with some saying the action, writing and performances in the sequel even surpass the original film.

Alongside Hwang Jung Min, Jung Hae In, the film also stars Oh Dal Soo, Jang Yoon Ju, Oh Dae Hwan, Kim Shi Hoo, Woo Jeong Won and Shin Seung Hwan.

Enjoy the two new action-packed I, The Executioner character posters, and mark your calendars for September.
