The movie compilation of the first season of the male idol-themed anime series IDOLiSH7 now has a premiere date. Well, actually, two premiere dates.
That’s because the upcoming full-length film will be split into two parts. And, of course, that makes sense, as how do you cram 17 episodes into one film, eh?
IDOLiSH7, First Beat, Part 1 then will be premiering in movie theaters in Japan on October 3rd, followed by Part 2 on December 5th.
Along with that announcement, we also got a cute visual featuring all seven members of the IDOLiSH7 boy band performing on stage, and a trailer for the film.
Both came out via the official IDOLiSH7 X account.
As you’d probably expect, the trailer also introduces each of the idol group members, and gives us a short insight into their characters.
Now, me, I’m not a big fan of compilation films, especially when I have already watched the original anime.
But, in this case, if I was in Japan where it is releasing in the movie theater, I would probably make an exception as, for the concert scenes alone, it would be fun to see them on the big screen.
IDOLiSH7, First Beat, production details
The first season of the first episode of IDOLiSH7 was released in January, 2018, with the season running for 17 episodes. Those episodes are what will be condensed down into the IDOLiSH7, First Beat film.
Season 2 hit in April, 2020, with Season 3 in July, 2021 for its first part, and the second part of its third season much later in October, 2022.
Season 4 has been announced but, as yet, there is no confirmation as to when it will premiere.
We did also get the concert film IDOLiSH7 the Movie LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERIOD to lessen the disappointment of a late Season 4 back in May, 2023.
That film, of course, was a huge success, pulling in over $5 million in Japan alone.
Director of the entire series, Makoto Bessho, directed IDOLiSH, First Beat, with series composition from Ayumi Sekine (The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window), and Kasumi Fukagawa (Zombieland Saga) designing the characters.
Studio TROYCA (Atri -My Dear Moments-) animated the series, and will be carrying out additional animation for the upcoming film.
There’s no word yet on where/when the film IDOLiSH7, First Beat, Part 1 will premiere outside Japan, but it’s very likely to be Crunchyroll, as that’s where all three seasons and the concert film are streaming now.
