Jeffrey Tambor won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy last night, and gave what was probably the most emotional acceptance speech of the evening as, with a voice cracking with emotion, he thanked a myriad of people and then dedicated his award to the transgender community.
“This is much bigger than me”, Tambor said about his Golden Globe for playing the part of Maura Pfefferman in ‘Transparent‘. To Joe Lewis, my new best friend. To my wife, Kasia Ostlun, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be standing up here tonight. Check that. I wouldn’t be standing. And finally, if I may, I would like to dedicate my performance and this award to the transgender community. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, for your courage, thank you for your patience, thank you for you inspiration, and thank you for letting us be part of the change.”
‘Transparent‘ was also awarded the Golden Globe for Best Television Comedy or Musical.
Congratulations to Jeffrey and, of course, to the creators of the show. Well-deserved wins, and a lovely acceptance speech on Tambor’s part. And, of course, a pretty amazing show.
