Ji Chang Wook and Jun Ji Hyun starring in Human x Gumiho? Here’s what we know so far…

Korean actors Ji Chang Wook and Jun Ji Hyun will reportedly star in upcoming K-drama Human x Gumiho.

The cool pairing was reported by Korea’s OSEN earlier today, commenting both Ji Chang Wook and Jun Ji Hyun had been offered leads in the upcoming Korean fantasy drama.

No response has yet been forthcoming from either actors’ agency, however, so it’s a fingers-crossed situation at the moment it seems.

If it does happen, however, it will be the second time the pair have been the leads in a Korean IP, as they are both already starring together in the upcoming zombie apocalypse film Colony due out next year.

What is Human x Gumiho?

The upcoming fantasy K-drama is being written by Im Me Ah Ri — screenwriter of both The Beauty Inside and Doom at Your Service so, yes, it should be extremely well-written.

According to OSEN, the drama is being produced by Song Joong Ki-owned agency HighZium Studio.

They also produced Song Joong Ki’s hit Netflix film My Name is Loh Kiwan, as well as K-dramas A Virtuous Business, Start-up, Mr. Plankton and Doctor Slump among others – which proves they know how to select a superb project as well.

No details have yet been released about the Korean drama’s plot.

Jun Ji Hyun adding to her drama library?

Even though the now 43-year-old actress made her debut over 25 years ago, she seems to be quite choosy about the projects she accepts.

No wonder many of the ones she stars in are hits, eh?

If she does accept a lead role in Human x Gumiho then, it will only be her seventh ever drama — and will come on the heels of her upcoming Disney+ mini-series (8 episodes) drama Tempest.

She does, however, have a solid library of lead and supporting roles in movies.

And, yes, Jun Ji Hyun is also currently filming the previously mentioned zombie film Colony.

Ji Chang Wook still hard at work in the K-drama field

Meanwhile, Jun Ji Hyun’s potential co-star Ji Chang Wook has never left the K-drama genre since he debuted in a guest role in You Stole My Heart in 2008.

So much so, he is already starring in upcoming dramas The Manipulated and Scandalboth due out later this year.

He has also recently starred in 2024’s Gangnam B-Side and Queen Woo, and Welcome to Samdal-ri and The Worst of Evil both of which came out in 2023.

He starred in last year’s action film Revolver alongside Jeon Do Yeon and Im Ji Yeon.
