According to Korean news media, actors Kim Hyun Jin and Yeon Woo have now been confirmed as starring in the upcoming U+ Mobile TV original drama Love Phobia.
The K-drama is being produced by WeMad.
Love Phobia tells the story of Han Seon Ho, a 100% emotional romance novelist, and Yoon Bi Ah, the CEO of It’s You, a zero-sensitivity AI matchmaking program, as they come to understand each other and find love.
In the upcoming K-drama, Kim Hyun Jin plays Han Seon Ho, a best-selling romance novelist who has risen to become Korea’s hottest writer.
So much so, every new book he writes instantly sells out.
But despite looking as though he is the perfect man — handsome, smart and very popular — Han Seon Ho also harbors pain from his past. A pain that prevents him from letting others in.
As for Yeon Woo, she plays the role of Yoon Bi Ah. She suffers from trauma that causes her immense inner turmoil, while also preventing her from being around others for very long.
But, she does have one friend, Jae Hee, who she can rely on, and so sets out to develop an AI-operated dating app together.
The two meet when Han Seon Ho joins the It’s You project and, with a title like Love Phobia, you can pretty much guarantee the drama will have the two of them falling in love but fighting it every step of the way, right?
Kim Hyun Jin’s past roles
While still only 28, Kim Hyun Jin has already appeared in 10 other dramas, including the ongoing Crushology 101.
Five of them were also starring roles in K-dramas like Cheer Up, Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale, and the upcoming My Girlfriend is a Hot Guy, which will stream via Viu later on this year.
He is also set to appear in another drama scheduled to release in October, 2025 — Mean Love, alongside Lee Jung Jae, Im Ji Yeon, Kim Ji Hoon, and Seo Ji Hye.
So, yep, 2025 is a very busy year for Kim Hyun Ji, and we are only five months in so far.
Yeon Woo’s past roles
The also-28-year-old actress has an even larger K-drama portfolio than Kim Hyun Jim, with Love Phobia being her 14th drama so far.
Right off the back of a main role in the hit series The Tale of Lady Ok, and a supporting role in the 2024 drama Dog Knows Everything, the upcoming Love Phobia will be Yeon Woo’s first drama of 2025.
In the last five years alone, Yeon Woo has also had main roles in Live On, Dali and the Cocky Prince, The Golden Spoon, Numbers, Bitter Sweet Hell and Cheat On Me, If You Can, along with her main role as Cha Mi Ryeong in the previously mentioned The Tale of Lady Ok.
Yep, Yeon Woo’s ever-growing list of main roles just got a bit longer.
Interestingly, while the main cast for Love Phobia has only just been confirmed, the Korean drama is already in production and filming.
With a June premiere on U+ Mobile TV, that also means we won’t have to wait too long to see how well these two extremely experienced actors perform together.
But, if my senses are correct, I have a feeling we will end up with a stellar pairing. Don’t you?
Now let’s just see who picks up Love Phobia internationally, eh?
