Korean actress Suzy to star in new K-drama Men of the Harem? – Here’s what we know so far

South Korean actress Suzy (aka Bae Suzy or Bae Su Ji) may be starring in a new fantasy romance drama that, from the title — Men of the Harem — and the plot (see below) sounds like her co-stars may be loads of our favorite Korean actors! (We can only dream, eh?)

According to various Korean entertainment news outlets, Suzy has been offered the lead in a drama titled Men of the Harem, with her agency Management SOOP responding with the usual comment

The drama is one of the projects Suzy has received. She is currently reviewing it.

With the K-drama also obviously in the beginning stages, no mention has yet been made about possible male co-stars.

Studio Dragon (Queen of Tears, and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon) is producing the K-drama.

What we do know about Men of the Harem

The Korean drama is titled ‘하렘의 남자들’, with its literal translation being Men of the Harem.

Whether that will end up being the English language title, we will have to wait and see, but its English-language novels also have the same title.

The series is based on a Naver web novel written by author Alpha Tart (알파타르트).

The author also wrote another hit novel — The Remarried Empress — which is currently getting a Korean drama adaptation, starring the star-studded cast of Shin Min Ah, Lee Jong Suk, Ju Ji Hoon and Lee Se Young.

Along with The Remarried Empress, Alpha Tart’s Men of the Harem is published in English by Yen Press, with its third volume out in June, 2025.

The Men of the Harem plot

Like The Remarried Empress, the author’s latest drama adaptation is a court romance fantasy, but this time depicting the story of Emperor Latrasil Valentine Tarium.

Yen Press describes its very juicy-sounding plot like this:

Newly crowned emperor Latrasil Valentine Tarium has no illusions of finding a saccharine love match.

Forced to rapidly ascend the throne following her father’s assassination, Latil is still stinging from the bitter betrayal of Prince Hyacinth, the man who swore to love her through thick and thin. Now only two things matter—securing her sovereign power and causing her former lover the same agony Latil felt when he married another.

And she’ll do so by taking on five consorts herself! Only the most powerful and handsome men shall be fit for her harem. The son of a duke, the king of mercenaries, and…the brother of her ex?!

Suzy, then, would likely be playing the role of Emperor Latrasil Valentine Tarium. Cool, eh?

Lee Eung Bok (Sweet Home) is directing, with the screenplay written by Hwang Jin Young, writer of the smash-hit historical drama My Dearest).

We will keep you updated here at Leo Sigh as more information comes out.

But, yep, Bae Suzy! Fingers crossed, right?
