Nice news for Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett this weekend as ‘Cheek to Cheek‘, the album they collaborated on has entered the Billboard Top 200 chart in the number one spot.
According to Billboard, the album sold 131,000 copies in its first week of release, pushing it into the number one spot. It’s also in the top spot on the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts. How cool is that?
Interestingly too, ‘Cheek to Cheek‘ was the album some critics didn’t think would do well. Not because it isn’t a good album (it is, it’s great!) but that it’s so different from what Lady Gaga does, most of her ‘Little Monsters’ fans wouldn’t be interested in listening to it or buying it.
Sounds like those critics might have been more than just a little wrong, and I’m sure Gaga is getting great enjoyment out of that fact.
