The new Apple TV series The Last Thing He Told Me premiered this weekend.
A series that, honestly, didn’t grab my attention except for the music on each episode’s soundtrack, which is quite stellar.
Music like Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad‘ which played as Hannah (Jennifer Garner) is driving home and calls her husband Owen.
The song continues playing as she is in the kitchen at home cooking dinner as the doorbell rings — The Last Thing He Told Me, Episode 1, “Protect Her‘.
Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad‘ is the title track of the American singer songwriter’s eleventh studio album, which came out in late 1995 via Columbia Records.
The folk rock track ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad‘ was released as the album’s lead and only single.
It is a song that was written by Springsteen after being inspired by the Steinbeck novel The Grapes of Wrath.
The track went on to not become a particularly big hit for the by-then iconic American musician, only charting in the UK and the Netherlands, but was later covered by Rage Against the Machine in a cool rap rock style.
Listen to Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad‘ as heard on The Last Thing He Told Me on the Springsteen album, and in the video.
