American indie pop band Fitz and the Tantrums’ ‘Sway‘ was that incredibly catchy song playing at the beginning of Grey’s Anatomy this week — Grey’s Anatomy, Season 19, Episode 9, “All Star“.
The cool dance track song was released in June, 2022 as a single from the band’s fifth studio album Let Yourself Free.
The album itself came out five months later on the Elektra Records label.
The lyrics of the track are about summer and how, with so many people looking for love, nobody should be alone.
All the pretty girls lookin’ sad all summer
All the pretty boys wanna dance Strangers in a world full of lonely lovers Find someone and take ’em by the hand
Fitz and the Tantrums was founded in 2008 by lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick. They began performing live soon after.
The critically-acclaimed band has been together ever since, with a couple of line-up changes, and has released five studio albums, two EPs and almost 20 singles.
Listen to Fitz and the Tantrums’ ‘Sway‘ as heard on Grey’s Anatomy this week on the band’s Let Yourself Free, and in the song’s official music video.
That video takes place in a pastel and sepia-colored 1950s style diner, and by a swimming pool from the same era.
And yep, just like the song, it makes you want to get up and dance along.
