With the long-running hit crime drama The Blacklist coming to its ultimate end next week, last night’s episode ended on a massive cliffhanger guaranteed to bring fans back for its two-hour finale — The Blacklist, Season 10, Episode 20, “Arthur Hudson“.
That cliffhanger was musically illustrated with a superbly appropriate song — Huey Lewis and The News’ ‘We’re Not Here for a Long Time (We’re Here for a Good Time)‘ — as Redd fakes his own death by blowing up the plane in mid-air.
A “death” that will now see him on the run from most of the FBI.
He then picks up Edward the plane’s pilot, who is standing on the road clutching his parachute.
When was ‘We’re Not Here for a Long Time’ released?
‘We’re Not Here for a Long Time (We’re Here for a Good Time)‘ was a soul-infused pop song released by the band in 2001 as the first track on their eighth studio album Plan B.
The track was not one of the two singles released from the album, but it is still a helluva cool dance number.
Meanwhile, the album itself was the first one Huey Lewis and the News had released in seven years, and the last one that featured band founding member guitarist Chris Hayes, who left the News soon after it was released.
It went on to chart in just three countries — the United States, Canada and Norway.
Does Huey Lewis and The News still perform live?
As for Huey Lewis and The News, the pop rock band was founded in 1979 and, with a couple of member changes, is still in existence today although not performing live.
That is due to health problems Huey Lewis himself now has that forced him to cancel any touring events from 2018 onwards due to a Ménière’s disease diagnosis.
Due to that disease, the now-73-year-old musician is sadly not able to hear well enough to sing.
The band has released a new album since his diagnosis, but it comprised songs recorded before his hearing problems began.
With that in mind, listen to Huey Lewis and The News’ ‘We’re Not Here for a Long Time (We’re Here for a Good Time)‘ from last night’s The Blacklist episode in the video and on the Spotify player.
A TV series, by the way, that Huey Lewis himself once guest starred on.
The final episode of The Blacklist will air next week on NBC. You can watch the first nine seasons of the crime drama via Netflix now.
