Listen to Leo James Conroy’s ‘White Noise’ from Wentworth, Season 8, Episode 7, “Battle Lines”

The superb Los Angeles-based British singer songwriter Leo James Conroy’s ‘White Noise’ was featured on the new episode of the Australian drama series Wentworth this week — Wentworth, Season 8, Episode 7, “Battle Lines“. (See video below)

The mellow and cool jazz and soul-infused track was played in the scene as Ann and Will are having drinks.

Leo James Conroy’s ‘White Noise‘ is from the singer’s 2018 debut EP Plastic Chairs & Cigarette Fumes.

The artist himself is originally from Manchester in the UK (close to my original neck of the woods!), but he has spent the last decade performing in both the UK and the U.S., including appearances at the prestigious SXSW and BBC Introducing.

Some of his music’s intense depth probably comes from being a classically trained musician, and from conducting and performing with a number of British orchestras and brass bands.

As well as from his soul — of course.

A video Conroy submitted to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts for consideration as part of their 2017 competition in search of new artists, and one beautifully filmed in his living room.

And a competition he has entered every year since.
